Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez is set to agree a new deal with the Catalan club.
The 30-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, has been with the Spanish giants for the last six years and has underlined his desire to stay at Camp Nou for the rest of his career.
Club president Joan Laporta has stated that he expects Marquez to stay beyond the current term, and this is a view shared by the Mexico international.
"I agree with what the president Joan Laporta has said a few days ago and as we are talking about the extension of my contract, I must say that I am very happy to be at Barcelona and to continue in this team," he said.
"I have been treated very well at Barcelona. Being in a great club like this one makes you feel really proud because it's more than a club.
"We have the best intentions for ending the negotiations as soon as possible to extend my contract as my idea is to end my career at Barcelona."
