Ronaldo sets return date

Ronaldo sets return date

Cristiano Ronaldo is hoping to return to action with Real Madrid in their crunch clash with AC Milan.

The reigning World Player of the Year has been sidelined since limping out of Portugal's World Cup qualifier against Hungary on 10th October.

An ankle injury picked up during that contest forced him to sit out a 4-2 victory over Real Valladolid in the Primera Liga and Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

He is, however, closing in on full fitness and claims he is confident of making the return fixture against the Rossoneri at San Siro on 3rd November.

"The ankle already doesn't hurt me," he told Marca .

"I think I am ready to play."

Relief

Real boss Manuel Pellegrini will welcome the news that his record-breaking summer signing is close to being back in contention.

The Chilean has come in for criticism of late following a domestic setback against Sevilla and the European failing against Milan.

Ronaldo, though, is his most potent attacking weapon, having bagged nine goals in seven appearances this term, and his return will help to galvanise the side.

Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz will also be pleased to see the former Manchester United ace back in action as he prepares for a two-legged World Cup play-off against Bosnia-Herzegovina next month.
