Garcia eyes Tamudo respect

David Garcia has urged Espanyol fans to respect Raul Tamudo's decision to leave the club in the summer.

The former Los Periquitos captain has fallen out of favour this term under manager Mauricio Pochettino and has announced his intentions to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The striker will be able to talk to other clubs in January with Wigan, who the frontman was expected to join last summer, likely to renew their interest.

Tamudo has given Espanyol 13 years of service and Garcia, who has been a team-mate of the 31-year-old for eight seasons, believes the Espanyol fans should respect whatever decision Tamudo decides to make.

"Whatever he decides, he must be respected for all he has given to Espanyol," Garcia said.

"For every young player coming through the ranks at the club, Raul has been an inspiration."
