Fernando Llorente has extended his contract with Athletic Bilbao keeping him at the club until June 2013.
The striker's deal did not expire until summer 2011 but the Basque club have seen their eagerness to tie the 24-year-old down rewarded with a 34million euro buy-out clause also written into the contract.
The news could not inspire Bilbao to victory away at Getafe as they fell to a 2-0 defeat on Sunday to make it five games without a win in La Liga.
However Bilbao did record their first win in six games in all competitions when they beat Portuguese side Nacional in the Europa League on Thursday.
Llorente has scored eight goals from 14 games this season, six coming in Europe, and has 49 from a total of 164 during his five years with the club.
