Marchena worried by injury

Valencia defender Carlos Marchena has expressed concern after suffering an injury playing for Spain.

The 30-year-old picked up the knock in the first half against Armenia on Saturday but played on till the break when he was replaced by Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique.

Marchena will leave the Spain squad and return to Valencia, as he tries to recover in time for the crunch game against Barca at the Mestalla on Sunday.

He said: "The injury does not look good and the doctors have told me to exercise caution."

The former Benfica defender moved to Valencia in 2001 and has been capped 55 times for his country, scoring twice.
