Guardado eyes Dos Santos deal

Andres Guardado is hopeful Deportivo La Coruna can snare Mexico international compatriot Giovani Dos Santos from Tottenham in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old is excited by reports that the Galician club are interested in signing the former Barcelona forward from Spurs, where his career has stagnated.

Dos Santos was named as the player of the tournament at the Gold Cup earlier this year for his performances for his country, but he continues to watch on from the sidelines at White Hart Lane.

He has been restricted to Carling Cup duty this season, prompting speculation Depor coach Miguel Angel Lotina is ready to make a move for his services come the new year.

Quality player

"If Giovani came then we would be able to count on a quality player who has huge potential and can help raise the level of the team," he told by AS .

"He is a great player and I am not just saying that because he is Mexican too but because he is going through a very good time on a personal level.

"In his club side though he is not being given much time to play and it would be great if he went to another team because he is a very important player for Mexico and if he came here then even better."
