Valencia have sought to fend off mounting interest in Juan Mata by opening contract talks with the youngster.
The 21-year-old winger has starred for Los Che this season, significantly raising his profile across Europe.
A number of clubs are believed to be tracking his progress, with a summer move away from Mestalla already touted.
Valencia, though, are determined to retain the services of the Spain international and will offer him fresh terms in an attempt to keep him at the club.
"Negotiations are very advanced now and we expect an offer on the table very soon," Mata's father and agent Juan Manuel told Punto Radio .
"If everything is acceptable for both parties, we will sign."
