La Liga round-Up

La Liga round-Up

Barcelona made it six wins out of six with a narrow 1-0 win over Almeria at Camp Nou.

Highly-rated youngster Pedro scored the only goal of the game on 31 minutes with a neat turn and finish.

It was Pedro's second goal in four days following his strike in the UEFA Champions League victory over Dinamo Kiev in midweek.

The win equalled Barcelona's best-ever start to a La Liga season and moved them three points clear at the top of the table.

Atletico Madrid picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 success over Real Zaragoza at Vicente Calderon to ease the pressure on coach Abel Resino.

Atletico got off to a flying start when Manuel Jurado fired them in front after just three minutes with a cool finish inside the box.

Zaragoza wasted a great chance to draw level on 20 minutes when David de Gea saved Marko Babic's penalty after Jorge Lopez was felled in the box by the keeper.

Atletico then doubled their lead on 66 minutes when Antonio Lopez scored from a free kick on the edge of the box.

Zaragoza pulled a goal back five minutes later when substitute Ewerthon converted from the penalty spot after Tomas Ujfalusi felled Javier Arizmendi but Atletico held on for the win.

Deportivo La Coruna moved up to fourth spot with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Tenerife.

Diego Colotto was the match-winner for Deportivo heading home from a corner on the hour mark.

The defeat ended Tenerife's 100 per cent record at home and continued Depor's impressive start to the season.
