Manuel Pellegrini does not believe Cristiano Ronaldo is feeling the pressure of his world record Ј80million transfer fee.
The Portuguese winger has come under intense scrutiny since his switch from Manchester United in the summer with some suggesting he is yet to hit top form this season.
The current Fifa World Player of the Year started on the bench in Saturday's 3-0 win over Espanyol with Pellegrini using Ronaldo's exertions with Portugal as the reason.
The 24-year-old responded well and came on to score his second goal in two games for Real as he rounded off the scoring for the night.
"I don't think Ronaldo has a weight on his shoulders," Pellegrini said.
"I think that people are looking at him through a magnifying glass. The player is adapting to the league and to the team.
"I don't think he has any problems and he looks calm to me."
Deserved victoryPellegrini was pleased with his side's performance after earlier goals from Esteban Granero and Guti ensured Real took all three points.
"The first-half was very even, even though we managed to score and had other opportunities," he added.
"Then, in the second half we had more chances and we scored a couple of goals. I think that we are just winners.
"Madrid deserved the win and by more than just a one-goal difference."
