Kone open to loan switch

Kone open to loan switch

Sevilla striker Arouna Kone has admitted he needs to play more regularly if he is to be selected for Ivory Coast's World Cup squad.

The 25-year-old joined Sevilla from PSV Eindhoven in 2007 but his time in Spain has been disrupted by injuries.

He missed most of last season with a knee problem and currently finds himself behind Fredi Kanoute, Luis Fabiano and new signing Alvaro Negredo in the pecking order.

Kone is desperate to get more time on the field and is understood to have held talks with sporting director Ramon Gonzalez Monchi about a loan move in January.

"After my grave injury I need to play a lot of minutes and this is not possible at Sevilla today," said Kone, who is contracted to the club until 2011.

"I want to fight for a place in the Ivory Coast squad for the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup but without playing it is impossible."
