Barca tracking Suarez

Barca tracking Suarez

Reports in Spain suggest that Barcelona are weighing up a January approach for Ajax forward Luis Suarez.

Should a move fail to materialise in the New Year, the Catalan giants are expected to try again next summer.

Pep Guardiola is known to be an admirer of the Uruguay international and has been keeping a close eye on his development over recent years.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation at Ajax in the past two years, adjusting to life in Amsterdam with ease after making a name for himself at Nacional and Groningen.

Suarez cost Ajax €7.5million (Ј6.7m) in the summer of 2007, but his valuation is likely to have rocketed since then.

Relations between Barcelona and the Dutch giants are positive, though, with a number of players having switched between the two clubs over the years.

It is therefore expected that were Barca to make their move, they would be successful in landing their man.

A January approach has been touted as Suarez would be eligible to join Guardiola's squad for the defence of their UEFA Champions League crown.
