Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga is at Everton's training ground as his Ј5million move to the Premier League edges towards completion.
Reports had suggested that the Holland international's arrival on Merseyside had stalled because of his personal terms.
Heitinga is understood to be on a lucrative salary at Atletico which the Everton hierarchy were unprepared to replicate at Goodison Park.
But differences appear to have been settled ahead of Tuesday's 5pm deadline after the 25-year-old's arrival at the Toffees' Finch Farm training ground.
Heitinga is viewed as a replacement for Joleon Lescott, who joined Manchester City earlier in August, while Sylvain Distin signed from Portsmouth last week.
The player, who has suffered from injuries in the past, will undergo a medical as Everton attempt to beat the clock to complete the transfer.
