Valencia Players Will Keep Their Focus Despite Wage Troubles - Unai Emery

Unai Emery has stated that his players should be able to forget about the current financial troubles at the club when they take on Malaga this weekend.

The team have been waiting on their wages for several weeks and, even though they do not yet know when they will be given their pay cheques, the coach claimed that there is nothing to be worried about.

"[The situation] should not, and will not, distract us,” he told Marca . “The president is in permanent contact... the club is not seeking short-term options.

"I believe blindly in the responsible attitude and professionalism of my players. If anyone is not up to it, then they can get up to it."

The coach declared that his players will be focused "100 per cent" on the match with Malaga, and believes they have to arrest their disappointing form.

"At home the team has picked up wins, some with more difficulty than others,” he mused. “But we are in a bad run that we have to stop.

"[Malaga] were worried about not scoring goals and now they are getting plenty. The demand against a direct rival is always very high... We have to be more alert and compact in defence."

Certainly Valencia will have to improve from recent showings if they are to beat an in-form Malaga side, and Emery believes the fans need to get behind the team.

"The behaviour of the fans in general has been very good,” he declared. “I understand that they show their disapproval sometimes, but we should all row in the same direction.”
