Abel Resino took charge of his first training session as Atlético Madrid coach today.
The former Castellón man was introduced to the players by Atlético president, Enrique Cerezo, and then got to work on a chilly day in the Spanish capital.
Marca reports that most of the work was done with the ball rather than tactically and that it was a hard session for the players.
The team worked a lot with the lines, holding the attack, midfield and the defence, and Tomas Ujfalusi did train with the rest of the squad, despite a slight injury.
Resino will take charge of his first match this weekend, when Atlético take on Recreativo Huelva, but he will be without Maxi Rodríguez for the match, because of suspension.
Also, Simao is a doubt for the clash due to injury, and Ujfalusi could miss it unless he recovers full fitness this week.
Luis García was forced to withdraw from training early, as he picked up a slight injury, but otherwise it went according to plan for the new coach.
Atlético have not won a game this year, in the Copa Del Rey or La Primera, and they will be hoping to pick up their first three points against Recre.
After that game with the relegation strugglers, they face Getafe, before the tough matches against the top sides.
