Ex-Spain PM Aznar: A Joy To Watch Barcelona & Lionel Messi

Former Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Maria Aznar, who has always shown his affection for his hometown club, Real Madrid, did not attempt to hide his admiration for Barcelona this season.

The recently turned 56-year-old also had all-round praise for Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola.

“Pep knows how to assemble a good team and he’s very intelligent. To watch Barcelona play is a joy. They are playing great football and they are doing very well,” he said in an interview with Cadena COPE .

“The player whom I like most is Lionel Messi,” he added.

Aznar, however, is sceptical about Barca’s chances of claiming the La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey treble.

“The season is very long and it is difficult to maintain the same level throughout the campaign. They might have a slump. Still, they are playing well.

“It is very difficult to win all three titles. It is possible, but very difficult,” he cautioned.

Aznar didn’t leave the interview with the radio station without touching on Madrid: “For me, Iker Casillas is the best goalkeeper in the world.

“As far as the club’s elections go, I will not consider running because I do not fulfil the requirement of being a member for at least ten years,” he revealed.
