Player Ratings: Barcelona 2-0 Real Mallorca

BARCELONA

Pinto 6 - Did not have much to do although what he looked comfortable when called upon unlike his last outing against Espanyol seven days ago.

Alves 7 - Worked hard up and down the right flank as usual, but did not send over the crosses for the forwards to test Lux with.

Sylvinho 6.5 - had a quiet but secure game and registered a superb shot that would have been worthy of winning any game had it not been saved.

Pique 6.5 - Could be called up for Spain tomorrow, but it will not rest on this performance thankfully as he did not have much to do.

Marquez 7.5 - Marked up because he netted a superb free-kick to brighten up the game just when things were going flat once again.

Toure 5.5 - Misplaced passes in the first half were either a lack of focus or he was just slightly off the pace.

Gudjohnsen 6 - Worked hard in midfield but struggled against the number of opposition players employed to block up the midfield.

Iniesta 8 - A driving force that who was motivated by wearing the captain's armband and he was the centre of most of what Barcelona did well.

Hleb 7 - Showed some confident touches on the right and almost set Bojan up on a couple of occasions, but did not have any chances himself.

Henry 7.5 - Came into the game moments before he broke the deadlock with a well taken goal and appeared to be enjoying himself before being taken off.

Bojan 7.5 - Had a very lively first half and would have earned a higher mark had he beaten Lux with any one of the many chances that he did have.

Subs

Messi 7.5 - Could have scored twice and his running and trickery almost opened Mallorca so it is clear to see why Barca do need him so much as any team would.

Busquets 5.5 - Helped pushed Barcelona forward as well as working to ensure that Mallorca did not cause any surprises after he came on.

Eto'o 5 - Barely enough time do anything, but he will have been very pleased to have received the cheer from the home fans as he replaced Bojan.

REAL MALLORCA

Lux 7 - May not have impressed on previous displays, but the keeper made several crucial saves with his legs to stop Barcelona recording a bigger win.

Scaloni 6 - Battled away to try and frustrate Henry and for the first 30 minutes he was successful and the Frenchman's withdrawal was a sign he did well.

Ayoze 5 - The cross for the goal came from his side and he must have been distressed when Messi stood up from the bench to come on.

Nunes 5.5 - Had an unfortunate evnening as he looked to be having a good game, but was exposed on too many occasions and will be pleased to have only let in two.

Josemi 5.5 - Barcelona may have only scored once from open play, but they could have had a few more as Mallorca's busy defence was breached.

Suarez 5 - Struggled when the opposition had the ball and will have to improve his game if he is in the team next week.

Cleber 5 - Never really showed his authority in a midfield where he worked well only to often chase the ball as Barcelona played it around.

Castro 5.5 - Showed some pace and some good touches, as well as working back to track Henry, but he was unable to make a major difference down the right.

Corrales 6.5 - An odd decision to take him off as he at least was able to put some crosses over from the let even if they were not that accurate.

Trejo 5.5 - Another player that did his shift, but when facefd with such strong opponents and such little support was unable to progress.

Webo 5.5 - Worked hard until he was substituted, but was unable to carve out any chances of his own ploughing what was effectively a lone furrow.

Subs

Marti 5 - Came on and looked to lift his team, but he was unable to do much in the last half an hour that the rest of the team had not done already.

Aduriz 5 - Put on in abiud to add something extra up front, but the plan did not work as he did not have a single chance on goal.

Jurado 5 - Also a five given that his entrance made little difference to the flow of the game, although he showed some good touches.
