Ronaldinho Camp Denies 'Stress Test'

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Brazilian had recently attended the Clínica Delfos in Barcelona to undergo secret fitness tests.

These allegedly indicated that the FC Barcelona forward was not in a fit state to continue to compete at the top level for the time being, with his condition being described as "ominious." Indeed, some speculated that he may have to retire at the age of 28.

However, Spanish sports agency EFE quotes sources close to the player as saying that these rumours have only the tiniest shred of truth to them.

While he did attend the clinic, he did not do so under the cover of dawn's light, instead apparently being registered at 21:30 on April 28. Nor did he submit blood samples as part of any sort of suitability test.

In fact, the sources added that he went for injury treatment "in terms of absolute normality," and that his muscle injury in his right leg was healing apace.

The Barcelona medical services, who, according to Marca and Sport, have no record of the player's attendance at the clinic, maintain that he is recovering on schedule and could in fact return to the squad in time to meet Real Murcia in nine days' time.
