Messi: Great Preparation For The Bernabéu

Despite the thumping victory, Messi still commented on the white handkerchief episode at the start of the game.

"We knew we'd find this to be the case, but the fans have their reasons. Anyway, we''ve shown that we want what's best for the club," he told the official Barcelona website.

"Sometimes in football you don't score. But today we went forward nine times and scored six: sometimes we've had more chances and not scored any.

"Myself? I still need more running and matches in order to be fully well."

Clásico Preparation

It may be a "meaningless" game in the championship stakes, but Barcelona travel to the Bernabéu on Wednesday eager to spoil Real Madrid's title party and keep their own second-place hopes alive.

With this in mind, the 6-0 win takes on extra significance.

Messi continued, "This is the best way to go to the Bernabéu - with high morale. There are three key points at stake and we'll go to win.

"We are Barça and we know that we just need to go out there and win. It's going to be tough but we must win the remaining matches.

"There are few games left so we're already thinking ahead to next season. When you don't get anything one year you look to the next."
