Sandro interest played down

Sandro interest played down

Highly-rated Internacional midfielder Sandro's agent insists he knows nothing of reported interest from Real Madrid.

The 20-year-old, who is regarded as one of the finest exponents of the holding role in South America, has seen his stock rise considerably over recent months.

He has already broken into the senior Brazil squad and has his sights set on a place in their World Cup squad heading to South Africa this summer.

His rapid progress has drawn plenty of interest from afar, with a host of European clubs tracking his services.

Reports in Spain had suggested that Real were leading the hunt for his signature and were closing in on a deal, but Sandro's representative has moved to quash such talk.

Future

"I don't know anything about possible interest from Real Madrid in Sandro," said Luiz Paulo Chignall.

"I don't think it is right to be discussing anything related to Sandro's future at the moment because he is totally focused on the Copa Libertadores.

"I want to make it clear that the officials of Internacional and me are the only people who can hold negotiations regarding Sandro and nobody has been in touch with me and nobody from the club has told me anything.

"I don't think what is being said in the Spanish press is true."

Sandro came close to joining Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur last summer before talks broke down, while Serie A giants Fiorentina are also known to be among his many admirers.
