Rodriguez reveals Real dream

James Rodriguez has admitted he would relish the opportunity to join European heavyweights Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old winger currently plies his trade in Argentina with Banfield, but is not expected to remain in South America for long.

The Colombian is already making waves across Europe, with his potential quickly recognised by the giants of the game.

Juventus are reported to already be in advanced negotiations regarding a deal to take him to Italy.

However, the Serie A outfit may face considerable competition for his signature, with a number of other clubs waiting to pounce.

Progress

Rodriguez is flattered to be at the centre of such attention, and admits he is hoping to move to Europe in the future, but insists he would have no qualms in continuing his development at Banfield having only been a first-team regular for a little over a year.

"I'd love to play in Europe," he told El Espectador .

"If I could choose, I would like to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, so it would be a dream to play with him.

"However, I have to go step by step, knowing that things will progress little by little.

"When I arrived in Argentina I had to train hard to be in the first division, then to earn a place among the matchday squad and now to have a starting spot."
