Racing Santander midfielder Sergio Canales has apologised to the club's fans after posing in a Real Madrid shirt for a media interview.
Canales has agreed a deal that will see him join the Bernabeu club in the summer but will continue to play for relegation threatened Santander in the meantime.
The 19-year-old has been a key figure in the Cantabrian outfit's battle to beat the drop, with his appearance in a Real shirt causing outrage amongst the club's supporters.
Canales was speaking to daily sports paper Marca when he was pictured wearing the famous white jersey for an in-depth interview.
The Spaniard - who courted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona before Real captured his Ј4m signature - has since apologised for the incident, which he admitted was a "mistake".
He said: "I understand why the fans are unhappy and why they are angry and I apologise for that. I want to make it clear I am here to help Racing.
"I did it and it is done and I have to face up to that. I know I cannot hide. I recognise that I made a mistake and I will learn from it.
"Now I am completely focussed on Racing. We are a team and the team does not depend on one person."
