Spanish striker Jose Callejon is reportedly being trailed by Premier League side Wigan Athletic.
The 23-year-old currently plays his football in La Liga for Barcelona-based outfit Espanyol, but the Latics are thought to have attempted to engineer a move during the January transfer window.
Callejon has only scored twice in the Primera Division for Espanyol so far this season but is regarded as a player who contributes to the team with his work-rate and assists.
And he admits that Wigan were close to securing his signature early this year.
"I know both clubs were talking about it on the final day of the transfer window, but ultimately did not reach any agreement," he told Spanish newspaper Sport .
However, it remains to be seen if Callejon would be favourable towards a move to the DW Stadium.
The former Spain Under-21 international and Real Madrid youth product says he is happy at his current club, as the Catalans look to move up to the safety of mid-table.
He added: "I am very happy at Espanyol. I'm very focused on this team.
"In the world of football, nobody knows what will happen, anything can happen."
