A win against Valencia might have boosted the morale at Real Madrid, but there is no doubt that Los Blancos are still a club in trouble.
The defending La Liga champions are currently twelve points off the pace in Spain, and face a tough task against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Nevertheless, midfield maestro Wesley Sneijder still believes that they can go on to do big things this season.
"The season is very long and all the teams go through bad patches in play and in results," he mused.
"Last year we also had bad patches of play and we overcame them, but I do not believe it is alarming. We are still fighting for large objectives and want to finish the season well.
"Now we have to all fight together to the end, and if we are not capable of playing good football, we will have to find other ways to win."
Despite the fighting talk though, there is no doubt the champions face a tough task in chasing down Barcelona, following a rocky period in their season that has included losses to Sevilla and Getafe.
Sneijder understands why the fans have been upset at their recent form, but his words reflect the desire in the camp to put things right.
"It is normal that the fans are annoyed with this situation, because we are Real Madrid and they expect a lot from us," he declared.
"Now, more than ever, is the time to be united, to handle the situation well and to recover our state. It is time for unity and not individuals...I believe this team has the quality to be champions, and the environment in the dressing room is very good."
The Dutch international was short on praise for Barcelona, only saying that they are a 'very good team, who are playing fantastic football', before reiterating his remark that the season is long, and all teams will enter a bad patch.
