Barcelona Resume Training Without Messi, Alves, Eto’o

Barcelona have resumed training following the traditional one week break during the Christmas period.

Coach Pep Guardiola re-commenced the session on Monday without numerous key figures. Midfielder Toure Yaya, who has recently dispelled rumours of a move to Arsenal, was missing due to a sore throat.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Dani Alves, Samuel Eto’o, Seydou Keita, Martin Caceres and Gabriel Milito were also absent after the club granted them an extra few days to spend their holidays due the long distances they had to travel back to their respective home countries. They will be expected back at the club on Friday, January 2.

The good news for the Blaugrana, however, was the return of influential midfielder, Andres Iniesta following a two-month injury lay-off.

The 24-year-old trained normally with the rest of the squad and he has now been officially given the green light by the club physios to return to competitive action. The Euro 2008-winner could make his comeback this Saturday when Barca take on Mallorca at the CampNou.
