Real Mallorca usually rely on their good home form to provide them with valuable points, but despite leading the match twice thanks to goals from Navarro and Jurado, they somehow managed to lose 3-2 to a defiant Recreativo side who had Ruben, Colunga and & Javi Fuego to thank for guiding them to victory.
The Real Mallorca coach sensed the displeasure of the home fans at the final whistle, and made it clear that this kind of performance would not be accepted.
He told journalists, " The fans are angry, and rightly so, but we will fight to overcome this moment and the team will work hard to do so."
Distressed After Defeat
He stressed to assure the club's supporters that players are distraught at the loss. He continued, "Professional players need to be ready for every outcome, and be prepared for anything. We all feel the pain of defeat and the dressing room is very concerned.
"We must cure these mistakes immediately so that things do not get worse. My experience in the game tells me that we must be strong at this moment."
The former Racing Santander and Atletico Madrid coach said the defeat was all the worse because it was crucial fixture at the bottom of the table.
He concluded, "It was an important game, but we did not have the resolve to win. The feeling is that now we must grit our teeth and bring some pride back into the club."
Real Mallorca's loss leaves them in 17th position in the table, level with fellow strugglers Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao. It looks as if it may be another difficult season both on and off the pitch for the islanders.
