Alex Ready To Quit Chelsea

Just as Luiz Felipe Scolari is trying to convince his bosses to free up funds to buy a new striker, Alex has thrown a spanner in the works by declaring that he hopes to leave Chelsea.

The Brazilian defender has found first-team opportunities scarce at Stamford Bridge, largely due to the near-immovable presence of England captain John Terry and Portuguese stalwart Ricardo Carvalho.

And with his place in Dunga’s Selecao squad now under threat, the 26-year-old is determined to move on and establish himself elsewhere.

He said in The Sun: “I told Chelsea a few days ago that I wanted to leave. There are many options. But I have to think them through and see if Chelsea will let me leave in January.”

AC Milan were thought to be leading the race for Alex’s signature, but recent reports suggest they are on the verge of concluding a deal for Fluminense ace Thiago Silva. Sevilla have also been pondering an €11 million move for the ex-PSV Eindhoven man.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Londoners will allow their third-choice stopper to shoot off, as Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic’s future is also up in the air.

On the flip-side, Alex's departure couldraise the funds necessary for Scolari to land the new forward he so desires.
