Player Ratings: Marseille 0-0 Atlético Madrid

MARSEILLE

Mandanda 6.0 - Did not have a single save to make all evening.

Bonnart 5.5 - Gifted the ball to Agüero for a great chance early on but after that he was solid and even came forward to try and help his team on a few occasions.

Zubar 6.5 - Solid at the back and burst down the flanks on a few occasions. Did miss a couple of good chances but got himself in good positions throughout the match.

Hilton 6.0 - Shackled the front two of Atlético well and whilst he didn't do much else, he did defend well.

Taiwo 6.5 - A constant menace down the left wing as he drove forward time and time again, with strength and power. Could have made better decisions when he good areas but looked lively and tested Coupet a few times.

Cana 6.0 - Wasn't really put under any pressure in midfield but he did give the ball away a few times and also made a couple of needless challenges.

Ziani 6.0 - Never really got into the game like he would have wanted too and whilst he did get on the ball it was never really in threatening positions.

Ben Arfa 7.5 - Undoubtedly the best player on the pitch for either side, he dazzled with his runs and probably should have scored from close range when he shot at Coupet. Unlike the first meeting when he was anonymous he turned it on here and showed why Marseille spent so much on him this summer.

Zenden 6.0 - Mixed bag from Zenden, who spent most of his night delivering crosses or free-kicks. Did put in some good ones in the first-half but also failed to beat the first man too many times.

Koné 5.0 - Pretty much anonymous for Marseille and no surprise that he was taken off near the end of the game.

Samassa 6.0 - Looked alright on occasions until he was taken off, presumably with an injury as it was early on in the match.

SUBS

Kaboré 6.0 - Average display from the forward after coming on and he should have scored late on but he fired over the bar from close range.

Cheyrou 5.5 - Not much time on the pitch but did very little.

Valbuena 7.0 - Behind Ben Arfa Valbuena was the best player on the pitch and his introduction seemed to bring some life to the French side. Put in some great balls and his one near the end should have been finished by Cana or Kaboré.

ATLÉTICO MADRID

Coupet 6.5 - Was kept busier than his opposite number and did well with the few saves he had to make throughout the match.

Seitaridis 6.5 - Unusually for him he looked composed on the ball and rarely got beaten by the attackers down the flanks. Defended well and got forward when he got the chance, decent display.

Pablo 6.5 - Pretty solid performance from Pablo who did well in the air and also closed down well in and around the area.

Perea 6.0 - Made some great tackles to deny the Marseille forwards but also got booked for a reckless challenge near the end of the match that means he is suspended for the next game.

Antonio López 6.0 - Returning to the side from injury and he put in a very solid performance at the back and also down the wing. Did get skinned by Ben Arfa for his booking though.

Banega 6.5 - Hasn't impressed a lot at Atlético but tonight he was good in the midfield and battled for all the lose balls on offer. Looked combative and was prepared to fight for his team, good performance.

Raúl García 5.5 -Did what he had to do but nothing more really, and didn't give very good service to the front men all match. Will have been disappointed with this display.

Maxi 5.0 - A poor performance from a player of his calibre and whilst it could be said he didn't get the service, he also didn't look for the ball or do much when he did receive it.

Luis García 4.5 - It might have been a second team that Aguirre put out but judging by his display Luis García was not even good enough for that. Hardly touched the ball all match and when he did he simply gave it away with sloppy control or passing.

Sinama-Pongolle 5.5 - Showed glimpses of his pace but never really got going and was well shackled by the Marseille defence.

Agüero 5.5 - Like his partner he did try hard but he didn't really get the service and always found himself surrounded by gold shirts when the ball came to him.

SUBS

Maniche 5.5 - Was supposed to add some bite to midfield but did very little and was unimposing.

Forlán 5.5 - Similar to Agüero and Sinama-Pongolle, he hardly got the ball and couldn't do much on his own at times.

Miguel 6.0 - Not enough time to change anything.
