Baggies want fair Valero price

Baggies want fair Valero price

West Bromwich Albion insist Borja Valero will only be allowed to join Sevilla if a suitable offer is made for the midfielder.

Valero spent last season on loan at Real Mallorca, but a permanent deal for the 25-year-old proved to be out of the Europa League qualifiers' reach.

Sevilla have now entered the race for Valero, who is keen to return to Spain, but the Baggies have yet to receive a firm bid.

Sporting director Dan Ashworth confirmed West Brom are aware of Sevilla's interest in Valero, but says the club will only allow the player to go back to La Liga for the right price.

No offer

"The first thing I have to say is that we have not had a formal offer," Ashworth told ABC Sevilla .

"I know there is interest because that is what has been said, but there has been no clear movement in this direction.

"It is one thing that Borja Valero wants to sign for Sevilla and quite another that we have an agreement to ensure a transfer.

"First, they have to make an offer, and then we will analyse it. What I will say is that we are not going to undersell the player.

"If we reach an agreement, because I do know the player's wish is to continue in the Spanish league, then good, but if not, Borja Valero will have to join West Brom for training because he belongs to our club."
