New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is planning discussions with the club's current hierarchy as they attempt to maintain momentum in the pursuit of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
Rosell is set to succeed outgoing Barcelona president Joan Laporta in two weeks' time after scooping a significant majority in the Spanish champions' elections on Sunday.
Laporta and Rosell have not always seen eye-to-eye, but the two embraced after the elections and the latter is now expecting a smooth transition period as he prepares to take full control at Camp Nou.
Top of Rosell's list of priorities is to meet with Laporta and Pep Guardiola before the manager goes on holiday in four days, with the bid to sign Fabregas set as a main topic of discussion.
"When we get together, Laporta will explain at what stage the Cesc situation is at," said Rosell.
"If negotiations are advanced and the coaching staff want the player, we will continue with the negotiations, without doubt.
"Until 1st July we can't do anything (as Laporta and his team remain in charge for two more weeks), but if they need help then we will be the first to give it."
