Gerard Pique insists the transfer saga surrounding Cesc Fabregas is not affecting his Spain team-mate's World Cup preparations.
Fabregas has been tipped to leave Arsenal for Barcelona this summer and the Spanish giants last week tabled a 35million euro bid for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is keen to keep hold of his prize asset, who is under contract until 2015, and Arsenal have rejected Barca's initial offer.
Speculation continues over whether Fabregas will return to the club where he learned his trade before being lured to Arsenal as a teenager in 2003.
Yet Barca defender Pique believes Fabregas is shutting out the transfer talk as he aims to help Spain follow up their Euro 2008 success in South Africa.
"Cesc is very focused on the World Cup and the national team," he told El Mundo Deportivo.
Calm"He knows his future is being decided, but he's calm because it is others who have to resolve his transfer to Barca.
"I'm keen (for Fabregas to join Barca)," Pique added. "He's a friend and also a great footballer.
"I have the fortune of being able to enjoy his company in the national team and it would be a pleasure to enjoy it every day at Barca as well."
Pique came through the Barca youth ranks with Fabregas before also being lured to England's Premier League, although he failed to establish himself in the Manchester United first team.
Open door
The 23-year-old has become recognised as one of the best centre-backs in the world since being allowed to move back to Barca two years ago.
But he insists his return home cannot be compared to Fabregas' case.
"They are different situations," he said. "Cesc is more important at Arsenal than I was at Manchester United.
"I didn't play as much as I would have liked and in this case it was easier to open the door for me to leave. You can understand Arsenal and the situation of Wenger."
