Ruben accepts Wigan deal

Skysports.com understands Villarreal striker Marco Ruben has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract to join Wigan Athletic.

Villarreal confirmed at the weekend that the club had reached a deal in principle with Wigan for Ruben to move to the DW Stadium.

A fee of Ј7million is understood to have been settled upon and Ruben has now accepted a contract with the Latics until 2014.

He is due to fly to England within the next 24 hours to finalise a deal which will help to boost Roberto Martinez's attack.

Martinez has been keen to improve his striking options in the January transfer window and is set to add Ruben to his ranks.

The Argentine, who holds an Italian passport, has been with Villarreal since 2008 and had a spell on loan at Recreativo last season.

He has spent this term with Villarreal's B team in the Segunda Liga and the 23-year-old is now on the brink of clinching a switch to the Premier League.
