Wigan Athletic are on the verge of completing the signing of Villarreal striker Marco Ruben after the Spanish club confirmed that they have agreed to sell the Argentine.
Skysports.com revealed on Friday that the Latics were locked in talks with the La Liga side regarding a possible deal.
It has been reported that Villarreal will want to recoup the Ј5million they paid River Plate in 2008, which could mean a transfer will be worth at least that value.
Ruben, 23, is now due to travel to England next week to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with Roberto Martinez's side.
A statement on Villarreal's official website read: "Villarreal and Wigan Athletic have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Marco Ruben."
