Atletico snap up Salvio

Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Argentine youngster Eduardo Salvio from Lanus.

The striker has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Spanish side and has already been unveiled in front of fans at the Vicente Calderon.

Negotiations have been going on for the past few weeks with Lanus admitting they had accepted an €8million bid at the start of January.

The 19-year-old has passed his medical and is now free to join up with fellow countryman Sergio Aguero.

Since making his debut for Lanus in August 2008 Salvio went on to make 41 league appearances for the club scoring 11 goals in the process.

Atletico were said to have been chasing the youngster for over a year with Fiorentina and Manchester United also thought to be interested in the starlet.

Salvio already has two caps for Argentina and he will be hoping the move can improve his chances of making Diego Maradona's Word Cup squad this summer.
