Recre went 2-0 down inside twenty minutes against their fellow relegation strugglers and never looked likely to launch a comeback, especially after Marco Ruben was sent off in the closing minutes of the first half.
The result meant that they dropped into the bottom three and although Zambrano was annoyed by the "infantile errors" that he felt cost them a fairly even game, he insisted that the war to beat the drop is still very much on.
"We lost the match, but not the war," he affirmed to reporters after the match.
Zambrano feels that there is still "much fabric left to be cut" in the league campaign and claims that he team can still "surprise" doubters and secure their Primera Division status as there are many points left to be won, and his side "will surely have opportunities to take them."
Recreativo have two home matches and three away in their last five games and Zambrano indicated that he feels two victories at the Nuevo Colombino should be enough for them to survive relegation, with next weekend's game against bottom club Levante now taking on even greater significance.
