There is an intense rivalry between the two Seville clubs, but Palop is ready to put his usual allegiances to the side and hope for a Betis victory on Saturday.
"I want Betis to win against Atlético because if we also win we would move level on points with Atlético. You must watch out for your team. If Betis are victorious against Atlético they would be doing us a great favour," he told a press conference on Thursday.
Palop is still hopeful that Sevilla can achieve the top four finish that would qualify them for next season's Champions League, but believes that they will need to win all of their remaining games to do so.
"We are going to need six victories, but we must take them game-by-game, starting with a win against Almeria, and then see if we can continue gaining three points after three points. The team is confident again, we are three points behind, there are six games left... and we must put everything into achieving our goal," he affirmed.
As the conference due to a close , Palop admitted that as a man born and bred in Valencia, he was glad to see them triumph in the Copa del Rey final against Getafe on Wednesday.
"I was envious because it brought back memories of our win last season, but I was very glad to see Valencia win because I am Valencian, a valencianista and I have many friends there," he concluded.
