Sevilla And Valencia Track Jonás

Jonás, 24, has impressed with his performances at Mallorca since he joined the club from Vélez Sársfield in 2005, and it seems that both Valencia and Sevilla have the midfielder on their list of transfer targets for the summer according to reports in the Spanish press.

Valencia would hope to lure Jonás to the Mestalla with the promise of Uefa Cup football, but with Sevilla currently in a stronger situation and with the possibility of reaching the Champions League, it is thought that a move to Andalucia would be his preferred option of the two.

Portsmouth were heavily linked with a move for Jonás at the start of the current season and it is thought that they would also enter the summer bidding, although the player admitted that it may be easier for him to remain in Spain.

"At the present time I know that these are my last weeks at the club, but I am trying to do my best in all the matches. The truth is that Spanish League and the English are those that I like the most, although it is true that I am adapted to Spanish football and that is always a positive. We will see what happens at the end of the season," he told Marca.

The part-ownership deal that originally took Jonás to Spain means that he will either be sold at the end of the season, or return to Argentina with Vélez, as Mallorca are unlikely to pay the €8million that Vélez president Álvaro Balestrini has requested for his services.

Jonás is keen to continue plying his trade in Europe, and admitted that the uncertainty over his future has had an effect on him.

"The situation has been the same for several months and there have been weeks where it has got to me," he concluded.
