Japanese side Yokohama F Marinos are hoping to sign Espanyol midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura before the start of the J-League season.
Former Celtic star Nakamura moved to the Catalan club in June last year after negotiations with Yokohama broke down in the summer.
But a deal to his former side could be back on the cards and the Japanese outfit are looking to complete the transfer before the start of their domestic campaign on 6th March.
Yokohama president Akira Kaetsu is hopeful that the 31-year-old left-footer will make a return.
"I spoke to Nakamura's agent and told him the conditions that Marinos can offer," he said in the Manichi Shimbun newspaper.
"It is better for us to have him on a full transfer and that's the offer that we have made.
"Taking long in negotiations won't make the situation better so it is better to get things done in a short period of time if possible."
Nakamura has failed to make an impact at Espanyol after moving on a free transfer at the beginning of the season.
