Malaga are hoping Gustavo Munua can be persuaded to sign an extension to his contract.
The experienced goalkeeper will see his current deal expire at the end of the season, making him a free agent.
The Uruguay international joined Malaga from Deportivo La Coruna last summer and has become an integral part of the club's first-team plans.
He has settled well at La Rosaleda and the Spanish outfit are confident he will pen fresh terms.
President Fernando Sanz is leading the contract negotiations and has been encouraged by the talks held so far.
"He (Munua) is comfortable in the city and has connected well with the fans and the club," he said.
"We are hoping to extend our relationship, but we are keen to keep talks private."
