Miserable night for Mallorca

Miserable night for Mallorca

High-flying Real Mallorca slipped to a shock defeat away at struggling Tenerife on Monday.

A solitary strike from Juan Francisco Nino settled the tie in favour of the hosts.

He found the target after just 14 minutes, drilling low into the bottom corner following a swift counter-attack from Tenerife.

Mallorca did their best to find a route back into the game, but fell well short of the lofty standards they have set so far this season.

Tenerife move to within a point of safety on the back of the welcome success, racking up their first victory in nine outings in the process.

Mallorca miss the chance to move into the UEFA Champions League places after a lacklustre showing on the road, and they have now won just one of their last four Primera Liga fixtures.
