Striker Still Sought In Monaco

Frequently criticised last season for a lack of attacking cutting-edge, AS Monaco appear to have done relatively little to solve the problem since the opening of the transfer window. At this relatively late hour, les Monegasques still have their eyes fixed on a previous target.

Carlos Tenorio is a player coveted by the board of the Monegasque club for some now. An Ecuadorian attacker currently featuring on a regular basis in the Qatari league, he remains the primary target of the Mediterranean club according to Mercato365.

The website reports that negotiations are in an advanced – even completed – stage with the player yet an agreement has to be found between Monaco and Al Saad, the 29 year-old’s current club. At present, it seems that an accord is still some way off.

Certainly not counting their chickens, Monaco continue to track a number of other targets. Among these men are Danko Lazovic of PSV, Ivica Olic of Hamburg and Issam Jemaa of Lens.

Rather than the attacking situation improving over the summer months, it has, in fact, become worse. Last season's leading forward Frédéric Piquionne was sent to Lyon after a fallout with the management having been criticised for a lack of offensive production.

Ricardo, who has a well-deserved reuptation of being a defensive coach, is still, apparently, obsessed with defensive strength in numbers. After signing Dario Simic from AC Milan on a two year deal earlier, the Brazilian coach is now chasing Betis’ left-back Marko Babic to compete with Leandro Cufré and Vincent Muratori for the role.
