Eto'o appeared all but certain to leave Camp Nou when Guardiola, shortly after succeeding Frank Rijkaard as Barca boss, announced that the Cameroonian striker - along with the now departed Ronaldinho and Deco - were surplus to requirements.
But despite courting interest from England, Italy and Uzbekistan (of all places) the 27-year-old remains in Catalunya and Guardiola announced yesterday that he will not be sold this summer.
Meanwhile, speculation has sprung up that another Blaugrana forward could be set for a change of scene.
Recent reports have linked Henry with a controversial move to Manchester United, while Liverpool and his former club Arsenal have also been touted as potential destinations.
For the Frenchman endured a rough first season in Spain following his £16million switch from the Gunners and has supposedly been pining for a return to the Premier League so he can spend more time with his daughter.
However, Guardiola insisted that the 30-year-old has looked hungry during the summer and that he too will stay at Barca.
"I need them both. Henry has played very well throughout pre-season. I know that there is an opinion against him but I am his coach and I know how he is beyond the games," Guardiola told Sport.
"I am delighted with his performances and I know that the goals will arrive."
