Sporting In Viana Move

The Portugal international has enjoyed moderate success since joining Valencia from Newcastle in 2005, having been loaned out to Osasuna last season, where he was unable to claim anything more than a peripheral role.

Viana would seriously welcome a return to Sporting, where he spent two distinct spells in 2001/02 and 2004/05, and the Lisbon-based club are looking for adequate replacements for in-demand João Moutinho.

However, news daily A BOLA reports that Viana's return does not depend on the departure of Moutinho, who has been courted by Everton, as Sporting are already lining up a bid for the 25-year-old.

He has been on the radar of Sporting for most of the summer and the Moutinho saga came to haste negotiations for the schemer, who is surplus to requirements at Mestalla.
