Espanyol Open To Luis Garca Sale

The Spanish striker has been heavily linked with a move to Benfica following the appointment of Quique Flores as manager of the Eagles earlier this summer.

Although Benfica are not interested in meeting Espanyol's valuation of €12 million for the 27-year-old striker, the latest reports emanating from Portugal claim that the Periquitos are willing to do business for a lower figure.

Sports daily A BOLA says that the two clubs are very close to agreeing an initial fee of €7,5 million for the player plus a potential further €500,000.

And Espanyol have allegedly told Luis García that he will be given the green light to make a move to the Portuguese capital club.

Shortly before leaving for Manchester, where Espanyol will play a friendly match against United this Saturday, the club's general director, Pedro Tomás, unveiled more details on the negotiations for Luis García.

"We sell players because we need money. We are far from an agreement but it was settled that Benfica would make a formal offer during this weekend. And we are waiting for that officialization on Monday.

"It will be hard to replace him [Luis García] because he scores 12/15 goals per season, he always plays very well... We will have to be creative to replace him."
