Monchi: De Mul Is Staying, So No More Transfers

The renowned director stated that Duscher's arrival was the final movement of the summer in light of the fact that Tom De Mul is performing wel for his country in Beijing.

"He's playing well for his national selection," said Monchi of the Blgian.

"We'll look at his situation without haste and with calmness."

In adding this he did not formally rule out a transfer, but his other words seemed to do so.

"The squad is now closed," he confirmed.

De Mul arrived from Ajax last season but made just six Liga appearances for the rojiblancos, playing for all ninety minutes on just one occasion.

It was thought that the 22-year-old could be loaned or even sold, but Monchi appears to have faith in the former Vitesse loanee's progress.

Between The Posts

On the subject of goalkeeping, reserve stopper Javi Varas has been impressive in pre-season, much to Monchi's nonchalance.

"Our confidence in him was always great because coach Manolo Jiménez knew his progress with the B team," noted Monchi.

"We won't sign a new 'keeper because we have two with the first team and two with Sevilla Atlético."
