With his Olympic medal now safely on the mantel piece it was business as usual for Messi today as he returned to training at Barcelona’s youth academy La Masia.
The young Argentine has been left out of the squad to travel to Poland for the second leg of their Champions League Qualifier against Wisla Krakow in a bid to keep him fit for the start of La Liga.
The 21 year old was up bright and early as he trained with reserve team player Victor Sanchez. They were put through various training exercises including circuits, shooting and of course ball control.
The rest of the squad is currently in Poland for their match against Wisla Krakow, which they already lead 4-0 after an impressive victory at home, and it is likely that Messi will link up with them later this week.
So far Barca have looked very strong in pre-season even without Messi and they will be hoping that with the Argentine back they can get their campaign off to a winning start on Sunday.
