Barca interest pleases Senna

Barca interest pleases Senna

Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna admits he feels privileged to be linked with a move to Barcelona.

Reports suggest Barca are mulling over the signing of Senna as cover for defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets and as a replacement for Yaya Toure, who recently departed Camp Nou for Manchester City.

Brazilian-born Senna, who helped Spain to the European title in 2008, was plagued by injuries last season and consequently missed out on this summer's World Cup.

He is currently on pre-season tour with Villarreal in Ireland, but admits he would be thrilled to make a switch to Barca.

"For me, it's an honour and a dream that Barca are thinking of me," said Senna.

"There's nothing yet, but just the fact they are thinking of me is an honour."

Ideal

Senna, who joined Villarreal back in 2002, has recently turned 34, and his agent, Eli Coimbra, believes a move to Camp Nou would be an ideal way to cap off his career.

"It would be the crowning moment of his sporting career," Coimbra told El Mundo Deportivo .

Coimbra is confident the two clubs would be able to reach an agreement over the player.

"I'm certain that if Barca speak to Villarreal, the club's directors won't put up any obstacles to stop him from leaving," he added.

"In these eight years at the club, Senna has never had a problem with the club. On the contrary, he has always been very professional and they would understand that going to Barca would be a unique opportunity."

Villarreal take on Tottenham in a friendly at White Hart Lane on Thursday, and Barca president Sandro Rosell will reportedly travel to north London to hold discussions with Senna.
