Russian outfit CSKA Moscow have completed the signing of Mark Gonzalez from Real Betis.
The deal for the Chilean winger is reported to have been sealed for a fee of €6.4million (Ј5.5m).
The former Liverpool ace has penned a five-year deal with CSKA and is believed to have seen his salary doubled.
Gonzalez, though, insists the move was not motivated by money, claiming he would have been happy to help Betis' efforts to clamber back into the Primera Liga this season.
"This was an agreement decided upon by the two clubs because I was never looking to leave Betis," he said,
"I was prepared to stay and help Betis in the second division."
While Gonzalez insists he was not actively looking for a move, a switch to Russia will provide him with a grander stage on which to push for a place in Chile's squad should they reach the 2010 World Cup.
