Barcelona star Andres Iniesta is hoping that he will be able to play in the European Super Cup on Friday.
The midfielder tore a muscle in his leg in May which meant he was unable to train with the rest of the squad throughout their pre-season.
Having missed the Confederations Cup tournament with Spain, the 25-year-old has spent the summer battling to return to action and now hopes to play against Shakhtar Donetsk in the European Super Cup on Friday, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD1 at 7.45pm.
Iniesta told Sport : "I hope to be told I can play in the next few days and return to training fully with the squad.
"We know that Shakhtar will be a strong team and that it will be a very hard game."
Despite not being involved, Iniesta was delighted with Barca's recent Spanish Super Cup win against Athletic Bilbao.
"The first trophy of the season has been won. I think it is difficult to find a better way to start a season than by winning a trophy," he said.
