Negredo nears Sevilla deal

Negredo nears Sevilla deal

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo is reportedly on the brink of signing a four-year contract with Primera Liga rivals Sevilla.

The proposed deal will see Sevilla pay almost €15million for the Spaniard's servicers.

With many star attackers already fighting for a starting position at the Bernebeu, Negredo has had to look elsewhere for first-team football.

He was recently a target of Hull City but elected to stay in Spain rather than make a switch to the Premier League.

Real Zaragoza were also rumoured to be in the hunt for Negredo's signature, but it is Sevilla who have now emerged as the favourites to sign the 24-year-old.

"It looks like it's going well, but nothing is confirmed yet," Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez said.

"He's a football player that I've always liked. He would be a reinforcement that I had no problem in asking for. If he comes, perfect."

Negredo would have to compete with established strikers Luis Fabiano, Frederic Kanoute and Arouna Kone for a place in the Sevilla starting line-up.
