Former Spain coach Javier Clemente has taken charge of Primera Liga strugglers Real Valladolid until the end of the season.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that the vastly-experienced 60-year-old would be succeeding Onesimo, who was sacked on Monday after Valladolid slipped seven points adrift of safety with eight games remaining.
Clemente will be officially presented to the media on Tuesday evening and his first game in charge will be Saturday's clash with fellow strugglers Tenerife.
"Javier Clemente is the new coach of Real Valladolid," read a statement on the club's official website.
Commitment"The Basque coach came in Tuesday morning to Valladolid and after meeting with (club president) Carlos Suarez he sealed his commitment to the club for the remainder of the season."
Clemente brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with Valladolid being the 13th club he has managed.
The veteran coach has been out of management since being sacked by Real Murcia in December 2008, with the club in the relegation zone of the Segunda Division.
Clemente made his name at Athletic Bilbao in the early 1980s, leading them to two La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey triumph.
He took the Spain job in 1992, leading the national team in two World Cups and at Euro 96 before being sacked in 1998.
Clemente gained further international experience as Serbia coach from 2006-2007 and the only foreign club he coached was French powerhouse Marseille during the 2000/01 season.
Onesimo was sacked after defeats by Villarreal (2-0) and rock-bottom Xerez (3-0) in their last two games.
He had only taken over from Jose Luis Mendilibar at the start of February and managed to win just one game.
